We are recruiting an experienced Deepwater Drilling Engineer to support a major offshore development programme in Latin America. This opportunity is suited to senior drilling engineers with extensive deepwater experience who can optimise drilling performance, integrate drilling and completion activities, and deliver technically complex horizontal well sections using advanced drilling technologies.

Role Purpose

As a Deepwater Drilling Engineer, you will provide technical leadership throughout well planning and execution, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of deepwater horizontal wells. You will work across drilling, directional drilling and completion disciplines while driving operational performance through engineering analysis, automation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop drilling programmes for deepwater reservoir sections.

Review well trajectories and directional drilling plans.

Optimise Rotary Steerable System (RSS) and BHA design.

Perform hydraulic, torque and drag, ECD, hole-cleaning, and drilling-dynamics analyses.

Support geosteering and real-time well placement activities.

Ensure wellbores are suitable for open-hole completion deployment.

Provide engineering support for drilling automation and digital well delivery systems.

Produce risk assessments, technical reports and operational recommendations.

Analyse drilling performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Support the development of standard operating procedures and engineering best practice.

Additional Information

This is a long-term offshore contract supporting a major deepwater development programme in Latin America. Candidates should have significant technical drilling engineering experience and be comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams delivering complex offshore wells.

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drilling Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 10 years' drilling engineering experience.

Extensive deepwater or ultra-deepwater drilling experience.

Experience drilling long horizontal or high-angle reservoir sections.

Strong knowledge of Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS) and directional drilling.

Experience with drilling automation and digital well delivery technologies.

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting large offshore development programmes.

Strong technical reporting and stakeholder communication skills.

Certifications

Relevant engineering qualification.

Offshore certifications as required for mobilisation.
